Have You Ever Been to Estes Park?Imagine a place of such appeal, that when you go you want to stay. A place abundant in things to do and places to see, but those things seem to linger on the edges of a dream – because the real appeal is in the nothingness, the relaxation, the reconnection to nature.
The Rocky Mountains surround Estes Park on all sides. This town is popular in the summer months, with all sorts of outdoor activities like horseback riding, rafting, and scenic road trips. In fact, it’s a lot like mountain resorts in Europe. It’s even considered the base camp for Rocky Mountains National Park. Want to know a couple of the best places to go exploring?
Estes Park, Colorado, is a little over an hour’s drive from Denver, along the banks of the Big Thompson River. At just over 7,500 feet above sea level, the city fronts the Rocky Mountains National Park. Estes Park also borders Roosevelt National Forest.
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, Estes Park will be your wonderland. But don’t worry – there’s also world-renowned restaurants, resorts, spas, and golf courses, in addition to popular wedding venues.
But back to those outdoor activities. Colorado is a hiker’s dream, and one of the bucket list trails is right in Estes Park. The Lily Mountain Trail is perfect for those traveling as a family or with their fur children. The hike isn’t difficult – its most challenging terrain topping out at moderate difficulty. It’s also a relatively short hike at just under four miles. If you love wowing your followers, the panoramic shots you’ll capture of sights such as the Twin Sisters, Longs Peak, and the national park as a whole will make any Insta-follower green with envy. You’ll begin your journey at the trailhead, which is about six miles to Estes Park’s south. Because this is such a popular hiking destination, the available parking fills up fast. The earlier you can arrive, the better.
And if just one activity (hiking) doesn’t cut it, consider Open Air Adventure Park, where you’ll have over 30 different outdoor activities to choose from ranging from extremely easy to “no way, I can’t do that!”
If you’ve ever wanted to try your luck at tightrope walking or moving platforms, this is one sure bet for the entire family. Each admission covers 90 minutes of any activity you choose.
